Social Welfare Services

Social Service

▲ Campaign of maintaining street order

To realize a healthier, brighter, better society, the social welfare service, one of the three main activities, has taken firm root in our communities and society in general as the years pass by.

With more interest in the matters of social welfare, this service has made steady progress as society realizes the necessity for it. Social welfare services consist of the Saemaeul Movement, environmental protection, oxidation prevention, traffic order, street cleaning, community development, crime prevention, aid for farming villages, protection for abused children, finding missing children, holding feasts and promoting respect for the aged, supporting juvenile cultivation, to name just a few. Daesoonjinrihoe has participated in national and social policies and helped spread patriotic movements throughout the country.
To bolster these social welfare services, the Daesoon Youth Association and the Daesoon Women’s Association were established. Haewon Sangsaeng (Compatibility through Resolution of Grievances), heir purpose is to uphold one of Daesoonjinrihoe’s most important principles, in local communities, thus contributing to the development of a welfare society. They have been practicing a variety of social welfare services, such as promoting the spirit of filial piety, helping neighbors, holding feasts for the aged, early morning cleanings, the Saemaeul Movement, and providing aid for farming villages.

In particular, many devotees to the religion participate in environmental protection campaigns every year near areas of the religion’s cultivation centers nationwide, including the South Han River near Yeoju Bonbu Dojang, Shinreuk Temple, Daejeon Expo site, etc.

Medical Services

Daesoonjinrihoe has shown distinct sincerity in providing medical services. It launched the Daejin Medical Foundation in December 1992, funded completely by the religious order itself in pursuit of realizing the religious tenet of Haewon Sangsaeng (Compatibility through Resolving Grievances) and the Redemption of Mankind. In order to promote public health and establish a welfare society through treatment, research, technological development and the cultivation of medical talent or skills, Daesoonjinrihoe constructed Bundang Jesaeng Hospital, an eight-story building with five hundred hospital rooms, in Seohyeon-dong, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do. It has been opened since August 1998.

Dongducheon Jesaeng Hospital (which will have 1500 hospital rooms) in Dongducheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, and Goseong Jesaeng Hospital (which will have 500 hospital rooms) in Goseong-si, Gangwon-do are currently under construction.

One of the three main activities of Daesoonjinrihoe is to establish and manage schools capable of providing the basis of learning for today’s children so that they may prosper in all aspects of life tomorrow.
